The pericardium is a protective double-walled sac surrounding the heart, providing lubrication and isolation for heart movements. The instrument used to measure blood pressure is called a sphygmomanometer, which records the systolic and diastolic pressures. Both components are vital to understanding heart health and medical assessments.
