Imagery uses descriptive language to create sensory experiences and vivid mental images for the reader, while metaphors make direct comparisons between two unlike things without using 'like' or 'as'. Imagery evokes sensory details, while metaphors enhance understanding through implied similarities. Both are powerful literary devices that add depth to writing.
