What is Percy's plan to get past Cerberus in "The Lightning Thief," and why doesn't it work?

Percy's plan was to throw a stick for Cerberus to fetch but it doesn't work since it fell into the river Styx. Then annabeth came in and used a ball to play with Cerberus and it does work since she went to a dog obedience class. This allows Percy and Grover to sneak past Cerberus

The reason Percy's plan fails is that Cerberus, being a **creature **of the Underworld, is not affected by mortal music .
In the book " Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief " by Rick Riordan, Percy's plan to get past Cerberus, the three-headed dog guarding the entrance to the Underworld , is to play a song on his reed pipes that would supposedly lull Cerberus to sleep . However, Percy's plan does not work as expected. When he starts playing the song, Cerberus seems to be affected by it and starts getting drowsy, but then he wakes up and becomes agitated instead.
His **powers **and **instincts **are deeply rooted in the **realm **of the dead , making him impervious to the charms of human music. Percy underestimates Cerberus' **supernatural **nature and assumes that a lullaby would work on him like it would on a regular dog. This highlights the unfamiliarity and challenges Percy faces when dealing with **mythological **creatures and the need for alternative strategies to overcome them.

Percy Jackson's plan to get past Cerberus involves playing soothing music on reed pipes, hoping to lull the three-headed dog to sleep. However, the plan fails because Cerberus, as a supernatural creature, is not affected by mortal music. This highlights Percy's misunderstanding of mythological creatures and their powers.
