Each batch of Mrs. Crawley's toffee makes 14 pieces. If Sandy needs 8 dozen pieces of toffee, how many batches does she have to make?

so each batch makes 14 pieces and she need 8 dozen (dozen=12) so 8 dozen=8*12=96 so 14 pieces per batch needs 96 pieces
x=number of batches 14 times x=96 14x=96 divide both sides by 14 x=96/14 96/14= aprox 6.86
but you normally can't make a fraction of a batch so she need to make 7 batches at the least

Sandy needs to make 7 batches of toffee to produce enough pieces. Each batch produces 14 pieces, and she requires a total of 96 pieces. Since you cannot create a fraction of a batch, she must round up from approximately 6.86 to 7 batches.
