I don't know what a comparison statement is, but
8 slices of bread:4 eggs
For every 8 slices of bread, there are 4 eggs. Sound familiar?
THIS IS A RATIO
8:4 simplified = 4:2 = 2:1 = 1:1/2
The ratio of bread:eggs is 1:1/2
1/2 egg is used for each slice of bread.

8 --> 1 4 --> __
To make 8 become 1 is to divide by 8. So 4 divided by 8 is 0.5, which is half. 8 --> 1 4 --> 1/2 or 0.5

Michael uses half an egg for each slice of bread in his French toast recipe. This is determined by dividing the total number of eggs, 4, by the total number of slices of bread, 8. Therefore, 4 divided by 8 equals 0.5 eggs per slice.
