Why do gases have low densities?

So we wan't to know why gases have low densities. There are three best known types of matter: Solid, liquid and gas. Solids and liquids are very tightly packed with respect to gases because of the strong molecular forces bewteen the particles. Gas molecules don't have very strong interactions between them so there is nothing there to hold them very tightly packed.

Gases have low densities due to the large spaces between their particles and the weak forces acting on them, which allows for a greater volume in relation to their mass. Density is calculated as mass per unit volume, and gases occupy a much larger volume than solids or liquids. Their low density can be observed in practical examples such as the density of air compared to water.
