Why might a dictatorship hold an election? How do their elections differ from our elections?

This answer is going to sound REALLY bias, but there's no way to not make it biased.
The only reason that people would hold elections if they were dictators would be to help with foreign policy. Their elections would probably be rigged because the dictator would probably not want to lose all the power he has on the people.

Dictatorships might hold elections to appear legitimate, but these elections are often far from free or fair, contrasting sharply with democratic elections in terms of competition, freedom, and transparency. ;

Dictatorships may hold elections to appear legitimate, improve international relations, control the narrative, or distract the public. However, these elections are often rigged and lack competition, freedom of expression, and true public participation. This starkly contrasts with free and fair elections in democracies, which are designed to reflect the people's will.
