Explain why the Virginia Plan was not a suitable solution to the problem of representation.

The Virginia Plan called for a house of representatives, much like the one today, which would represent states based on population.
The issue with this, is that the larger states would have MUCH more power over government then the smaller states, (see the New Jersey plan), the compromise was met with the 2 house system, the House of Representatives matching the Virginia plan and the Senate matching the New Jersey plan.

The Virginia Plan was not suitable because it proposed representation based on population, which would have given larger states more power over smaller states. This led to concerns of inequality and representation among smaller states. Ultimately, this division prompted the creation of a compromise that addressed both perspectives.
