Previous research has found numerous benefits to listening to music before performing a task– it improves attention, memory, and even mental math ability. It has also been found to alleviate depression and anxiety.

Studying with music can affect test scores differently depending on the type of music and personal preferences. Calm, lyric-free music like classical can enhance concentration, while engaging songs may distract some students. Finding the right balance and studying environment is key for maximizing performance.
