Direct democracy is the idea whereby citizens in a polis take part in the decisions of the government directly, by voting on specific issues of concern to the government. An example of this would be if a government wanted to pass legislation on a certain issue the citizenry would vote directly on that piece of legislation rather than voting for representatives who would then make decisions about governance.
DIRECT DEMOCRACY: Every citizen can vote on every issue. Athens had this form of government
Direct democracy is a government system where citizens vote directly on laws and policies rather than electing representatives. An example of direct democracy is ancient Athens, where male citizens participated in an assembly to make decisions. While not widely practiced today, elements of direct democracy can still be found in modern governance through initiatives and referendums.
