Different governments react to and try to prevent terrorism in a number of different ways depending on whether the terrorism is domestically grown or foreign grown. A number of policies supported by governments seek to institute security measures to seek out and destroy terrorist leaders and organizations. This is usually done by a series of policing or military measures. In addition to security measures governments also often use economic or political measures to try isolate terrorist groups and prevent individuals from joining them.

Governments react to terrorism using security measures, military actions, economic sanctions, political strategies, community engagement, and legal frameworks. These strategies depend on whether the terrorism is domestic or foreign and aim to prevent attacks while addressing underlying issues. By combining various approaches, governments strive to create a safer environment for their citizens.
