Some American Colonialists still wanted to support Britain throughout the American Revolution because they considered themselves loyal to British Rule and very much still a part of Great Britain. These individuals could have worked for the British Government, done Business with the Government, or had an ideological attachment to the continuation of the colonies remaining under British control. In addition many of these individuals could have identified themselves nationally as "British" which also could have been their reason for wanting to stay a British Colony.
Some American colonists supported Britain due to loyalty to the Crown, economic interests, political beliefs in British governance, fear of chaos, and a strong cultural identity as British subjects. Their allegiance was shaped by a desire for stability and protection. This tension created a divide among colonists during the American Revolution.
