Where are mountains usually found?

Mountains are usually found on the edges of tectonic plates , plates of Earth that sift around on Earth's surface. When two plates come together, they can sometimes create a "fold" in which the plates both move upward as they push together.
I just looked up a diagram online to show you what it would look like. Personally, I'm a visual learner, and the best way I can explain my thoughts to you is through an illustration.
Hope I helped!! :)

Mountains are typically found in extensive, linear clusters known as mountain belts, which are often the result of tectonic processes such as orogeny (mountain building) and convergent plate boundaries. One of the most famous mountain belts is the Alpine Region, spanning across Europe with well-known ranges like the Alps, Pyrenees, and Apennines. The Himalayas, featuring towering peaks such as Mount Everest, are formed from the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Another example in the Americas is the Rocky Mountains, which were primarily formed during the Laramide Orogeny and shaped by glacial erosion.

Mountains are primarily found in mountain ranges formed by tectonic activity, typically at the boundaries of tectonic plates. Examples include the Himalayas and the Rockies. They serve as natural barriers and influence environmental conditions in their regions.
